Role Description

We are looking for a dedicated Gardening General Worker to join our Facilities Management team. This role is essential for maintaining the beauty and cleanliness of our university grounds.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Operations

• Perform general maintenance and cleaning of gardens and campus grounds during working hours.
• Inspect and maintain tools and equipment to ensure they stay in good working order.
• Follow the daily work schedule and complete tasks assigned by management.
• Adhere to all university procedures and protocols.
• Assist with refuse removal and waste maintenance.

Reporting and Communication

• Report directly to the supervisor, driver, or team leader.
• Provide regular feedback and maintain clear communication with management.

Quality and Safety

• Ensure all grounds are maintained according to standard specifications.
• Keep the workspace and equipment clean.
• Follow safe working procedures at all times.
• Use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Comply with all health and safety standards.

Requirements

• Education: Grade 10 (NQF Level 2). Please provide proof of qualification.
• Experience: Relevant experience in gardening or grounds maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in a similar role.
• Experience operating gardening machinery and equipment.
• Knowledge of standard safety procedures.
