About the Position
The Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (LDARD) is looking for a qualified Driver Operator for the Sekhukhune District. This role is essential for supporting the agricultural sector by managing specialized machinery and ensuring the efficient transport of teams and materials.
Key Responsibilities
As a Driver Operator, your main duties will include:
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate specialized machinery and equipment.
- Maintenance: Perform regular inspections, clean and lubricate machinery, and report any defects.
- Road Work: Assist with the grading of gravel roads and shoulder maintenance.
- Logistics: Load and offload goods, transport work teams, and move materials to various sites.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks and trip authorizations.
- Minor Repairs: Check fuel, oil, water, and tire conditions. Handle minor mechanical issues as needed.
- Safety: Strictly follow all safety procedures and precautionary measures.
Job Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Grade 10 certificate (NQF level 3), ABET, AET, or an equivalent recognized qualification.
- Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in driving and operating specialized equipment.
- Licensing: A valid driver’s license and a Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of operating specialized heavy machinery.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- Ability to read, write, and follow technical operating manuals and service charts.
- Excellent eyesight and physical ability to inspect vehicles.
- Practical understanding of vehicle controls and safe operation.
