Foreman: Roads and Stormwater Maintenance

Greater Kokstad Local Municipality is located in KwaZulu-Natal and is part of the Harry Gwala District Municipality. We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced individual to join our team as a Foreman for Roads and Stormwater Maintenance.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising road construction and maintenance teams, ensuring that infrastructure projects are completed efficiently and to a high standard.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
• NQF Level 05 Certificate in Civil Engineering or a related Built Environment field.
• A valid Code 10 (C1) driver’s license.
• At least three (3) years of experience as a Roads Construction Supervisor or Foreman.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
• A certificate in Health and Safety or Basic First Aid is considered an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily site work to ensure tasks are completed to the required standard.
• Manage the maintenance of roads and stormwater infrastructure.
• Provide leadership and supervision to maintenance teams.
• Assign tasks to team leaders and monitor their progress.
• Develop work schedules and manage staff transportation.
• Track the use and maintenance of machinery, tools, and materials.
• Handle administrative tasks, including project planning and reporting.
• Resolve disputes between workers to maintain a productive environment.
