The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety is committed to providing safe and sustainable transport services while promoting socio-economic development and fighting crime. We are looking for a dedicated State Accountant to join our Acquisition team in Polokwane.
Job Overview
The successful candidate will manage and coordinate the bidding process, ensuring that the procurement of goods and services is handled efficiently and in compliance with National Treasury regulations.
Key Performance Areas
- Coordinate and execute the formal bidding process.
- Compile and manage a list of prospective service providers for quotations.
- Source quotations from the database based on National Treasury threshold values.
- Provide effective and professional acquisition management services for the department.
Requirements
- An undergraduate qualification (NQF level 6) or equivalent as recognized by SAQA.
- A qualification in Supply Chain Management or Financial Management is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in acquisition, supply chain, or a related financial field.
- A valid driver’s license (except for applicants with disabilities).
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of the PFMA and the legislative frameworks governing the Public Service.
- Financial Management: Proficiency in advanced financial management and reporting procedures.
- Core Competencies: Strategic leadership, project management, and change management skills.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation.
- Tech Savvy: Proficient in computer literacy and standard office software.
