State Accountant: Asset and Inventory Management

About the Position
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety is seeking a dedicated State Accountant to join our team in the Mopani District. This role is essential in ensuring the effective management, tracking, and reporting of departmental assets and inventory to support our mission of providing safe and integrated transport services.
Key Responsibilities
- Register and maintain records of all departmental assets.
- Ensure the Asset Register is accurate and regularly updated.
- Keep inventory lists current across the district.
- Manage the disposal process for obsolete or redundant assets in accordance with regulations.
Requirements
- An undergraduate qualification (NQF level 6) or an equivalent qualification recognized by SAQA.
- A qualification in Financial Management is considered a strong advantage.
- At least 2 years of experience in asset management or a related field.
- A valid driver’s license (this requirement may be waived for applicants with disabilities).
Knowledge and Skills
We are looking for a professional who demonstrates:
- Strong knowledge of the Public Service legislative framework and the PFMA.
- Proficiency in advanced financial management and reporting procedures.
- Excellent computer literacy and analytical thinking skills.
- Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
