Assistant Director: Internal Audit
The Department of Small Business Development (DSBD) was established in 2014 to support the growth of small businesses (SMMEs) and co-operatives in South Africa. Our goal is to place these businesses at the heart of economic growth and job creation.
Role Overview
We are seeking a professional Assistant Director for our Internal Audit unit located in Gauteng. This is a full-time position focused on maintaining high standards of financial oversight and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in Auditing, Accounting, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in auditing.
- A post-graduate degree in auditing, accounting, or IT Auditing is considered a strong advantage.
- Experience in auditing financial statements or IT systems is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit Planning: Help develop strategic and annual risk-based audit plans. This includes identifying key risk areas within the department.
- Execution: Supervise and carry out internal audits. You will collect and analyze data to ensure the department’s controls are effective and efficient.
- Reporting: Compile and review audit reports and summaries. You will present these results to the accounting officer and the audit committee.
- Professional Development: Stay updated on changes in laws, industry standards, and new auditing techniques.
- Leadership: Guide and supervise staff members. You will be responsible for clear communication with stakeholders and management through written reports and presentations.
