About the Department
The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) was established in June 2019 following the merger of the Department of Economic Development and the Department of Trade and Industry. The mission of the dtic is to drive economic growth, encourage investment, and promote structural transformation within South Africa.
Role Overview
The department is seeking a qualified Assistant Director to focus on the Ferrous Metals sector. This role is essential for supporting industrial development and ensuring the growth of the metals industry through research, policy development, and stakeholder engagement.
Minimum Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7) in Economics, Commerce, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience in the metals industry, within either the public or private sector.
Key Responsibilities and Skills
- Research and Analysis: Conducting in-depth research to support departmental goals.
- Policy Development: Participating in the creation and review of industrial strategies and policies.
- Stakeholder Management: Building and maintaining professional networks and partnerships with industry stakeholders.
- Technical Proficiency: High level of computer literacy.
