We are looking for a dedicated Artisan Assistant to support our qualified artisans (Fitters, Electricians, Boilermakers, and Millwrights). In this role, you will help with the maintenance, repair, and installation of machinery to ensure our abattoir plant runs reliably and efficiently.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent qualification.
• N3 Electrical or Mechanical Certificate.
• Proven experience as an Artisan Assistant, ideally within poultry processing or a similar industrial environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a high level of attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
• A solid understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist mechanical fitters and other artisans with daily tasks.
• Assemble and install pipe systems, plumbing, and industrial machinery.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance to keep machines and building systems running smoothly.
• Inspect, repair, or replace defective parts using hand and power tools.
• Align and adjust equipment parts using specialized tools like levels and plumb bobs.
• Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, and gears.
• Monitor fluid levels, replace filters, and follow maintenance checklists.
• Order necessary parts from the storeroom and complete maintenance check sheets.
• Ensure the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and strictly follow all Health and Safety policies.
