Role Purpose
The Chief Investment Officer (CIO) for Properties and Infrastructure provides strategic leadership for our unlisted investment portfolio. In this role, you will define and execute investment strategies for direct and indirect properties and infrastructure assets. You will ensure that all investments meet our strategic goals, comply with regulations, and deliver targeted returns through rigorous oversight and due diligence.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy & Leadership: Develop and lead multi-year investment strategies for properties and infrastructure that align with client mandates.
- Portfolio Management: Oversee a diversified portfolio, managing capital allocation, liquidity, and risk-adjusted returns.
- Investment Execution: Lead the selection, valuation, and due diligence processes for new and existing investment opportunities.
- Value Creation: Drive strategic initiatives to increase the value of portfolio companies and assets.
- Governance & Risk: Ensure all investments meet strict regulatory, ethical, and risk management standards.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a primary point of contact for stakeholders and provide high-level reports to the board.
- Team Development: Lead and mentor a team of investment professionals to achieve excellence.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 15 years of senior management experience in property and infrastructure investment.
- Minimum of 5 years in an executive or top management role.
- Proven experience managing large investment teams and infrastructure projects (e.g., energy, transport, water, or telecoms).
- A Master’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional designation: CFA, CA (SA), or Pr. Eng.
- Registered FAIS Key Individual (RE 05, 01, and 03 certificates).
- Deep understanding of financial modeling, public-private partnerships (PPPs), and regulatory environments.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Additional postgraduate studies in Infrastructure or Finance.
- Experience with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and climate-resilient infrastructure.
- Strong skills in facility management and project management.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- Strategic foresight and the ability to solve complex problems in multi-stakeholder environments.
