Role Overview

As the Assistant Director of Systems Control, you will be responsible for overseeing the security and integrity of the department’s financial systems. You will ensure that internal controls are followed, provide user support, and assist with essential financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage security controls and user access rights for all financial systems.
  • Implement and enforce the segregation of duties to ensure financial safety.
  • Provide helpdesk support and guidance to all system users.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and manuals.
  • Monitor financial interfaces and systems, including BAS, PERSAL, LOGIS, and Vulindlela.
  • Prepare monthly payment reports and ensure clearance of suspense accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation of the department’s annual financial statements and reporting.

Requirements

  • Education: A degree or diploma (NQF 6) in Financial Management, Accounting, Auditing, or Management Accounting.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience at a supervisory or junior management level.
  • License: A valid motor vehicle driver’s license.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and public service regulations.
  • Technical knowledge of transversal systems and system controlling.
  • Proven leadership and management abilities.
  • Excellent communication, conflict management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage projects and prepare detailed financial reports.
