Role Overview

As a Community Development Practitioner, you will work directly with the community to identify and launch development projects. You will be responsible for building partnerships with stakeholders to ensure these initiatives are sustainable and effective.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement community development interventions in partnership with local residents and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with relevant partners to establish long-term, sustainable development actions.
  • Provide administrative support for community development activities and related projects.
  • Keep updated on the latest trends and best practices in community development to improve service delivery.

Requirements

  • An NQF Level 6 qualification (or equivalent) in Development Studies, as recognized by SAQA.
  • A valid driver’s license (exceptions are made for persons with disabilities).

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Community Insights: A deep understanding of community dynamics, social systems, and human behavior.
  • Leadership: The ability to coordinate community structures and motivate individuals toward self-empowerment.
  • Management: Knowledge of basic financial management and project management.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations and facilitate group discussions.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer literacy and research techniques.
