Role Description

We are looking for a dedicated General Assistant to join our team. Your primary goal will be to provide excellent customer service, maintain store standards, and ensure a safe shopping environment for everyone.

Requirements

• Education: Grade 12 (Matric) OR Grade 10 with at least one year of relevant work experience.
• Language: Ability to communicate clearly in English and the dominant local language of the area.
• Skills: Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately.
• Documentation: Valid South African ID or a valid work permit.
• Availability: Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
• Resilience: Must be able to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

• Advise and assist customers with product choices and queries.
• Help resolve customer complaints efficiently.

Merchandising

• Pack and display stock safely according to the store layout and plan.
• Ensure all items are correctly priced and labeled.
• Keep shelves fully stocked and organized.

Housekeeping

• Maintain clean and tidy aisles to ensure customer safety and easy access.
• Complete cleaning checklists for staff facilities, including the canteen and restrooms.

Safety and Compliance

• Follow all Health and Safety (OHSA) requirements, including the use of safety gear.
• Ensure stock is stored safely to prevent injury to customers or staff.
• Report any safety risks or discrepancies to the Store Manager.

Stock Management

• Monitor stock levels and report any damaged items or stock losses to management.
