About the Organization

The OR Tambo District Municipality is located in the Wild Coast Region of the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Named after the legendary Oliver Tambo, the municipality is centered in Mthatha and serves a large population across the district.

Role Overview

The municipality is seeking four qualified Millwrights to join the Engineering and Technical department. Reporting to the Artisan Millwright, the successful candidates will focus on the maintenance and operation of water purification and distribution equipment.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Science.
• Qualifications: NQF Level 3 Electrical and Mechanical Qualification.
• Certification: Millwright Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) is compulsory.
• Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a Millwright, specifically within the water and sanitation industry.
• Licensing: A valid Code EB driver’s license.
• Skills: Proficiency in computer use and general experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and implement strategic and operational plans for the sub-section.
• Coordinate daily performance tasks and ensure operational outcomes are met.
• Assist in preparing capital and operating estimates and monitor spending against approved budgets.
• Complete all administrative tasks and technical reporting required for the section.
• Manage communication and relationships with relevant stakeholders.
