Role Overview
We are looking for a DC Fixed Asset and Maintenance Assistant Manager to join our team in Midrand. In this role, you will support the Asset Manager in overseeing all fixed assets and maintenance operations within the Distribution Centre (DC). Your focus will be on ensuring equipment is well-maintained, procurement processes are efficient, and all maintenance tasks are completed on time.

Requirements
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
- Relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar maintenance or asset management role.
- Previous experience within a Retail or Pharmaceutical Supply Chain facility.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial acumen.
- General computer literacy.
Advantageous:
- Experience in Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
- Mechanical or Electrical certification.
- Experience using SAP, EWM, or other ERP systems.
Key Responsibilities
Asset and Maintenance Management:
- Help implement systems for the procurement and upkeep of equipment.
- Manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with suppliers to ensure high service standards.
- Work with management to find and buy cost-effective equipment.
- Coordinate daily preventative maintenance programs to keep the DC running smoothly.
- Ensure all assets and equipment are delivered to the correct locations on time.
Administration and Safety:
- Develop maintenance plans and assign tasks to the team.
- Keep the fixed asset register accurate and updated in the SAP system.
- Ensure all operations follow safety regulations and audit requirements.
- Maintain Fire Automation Sprinkler Inspection Bureau (ASIB) standards.
- Document and update standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Financial and Stakeholder Management:
- Identify opportunities to save costs and improve efficiency.
- Monitor budgets and financial reports related to the facility.
- Build strong relationships with external contractors and service providers.
- Resolve queries from internal and external customers regarding DC equipment.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage the maintenance team to improve performance.
- Promote a culture of accountability and innovation.
- Track team progress, manage leave, and oversee overtime.
Essential Competencies
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).
- Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and material handling standards.
- Understanding of warehouse receiving and stocking procedures.
- Ability to manage budgets and interpret financial reports.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate others.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
- Trustworthy, honest, and deadline-driven.
