About the Role

The Department of Health is looking for an experienced Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) administrator to support the OHS Directorate. The role involves coordinating OHS activities, preparing reports, and ensuring all documentation meets legislative requirements. It is a permanent, full‑time position that offers stability, professional growth, and exposure to construction safety environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and consolidate OHS reports.
  • Organise OHS training sessions, workshops, and meetings.
  • Coordinate site visits for the OHS Chief Directorate.
  • Maintain records of inspections, incident investigations, and training.
  • Prepare compliance documentation for audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Track safety performance metrics and compliance progress.
  • Promote a culture of health and safety in construction environments.
  • Compile statistics on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Provide general administrative support to management.

Who Should Apply

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 or National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Public Management, Public Administration, or Management Assistant.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in OHS administration.
  • Knowledge of project management principles.
  • Understanding of ISO standards.
  • Familiarity with OHS compliance tools, including hazard and risk identification.
  • Knowledge of the OHS Act and construction health and safety legislation.
  • A Certificate in Construction Health and Safety Management is an added advantage.
