Salary: R138 486 – R163 131 per annum (Level 02)

Minimum Qualification: ABET (no prior experience required)


1. Groundsman (2 Posts)

Location: 2 Field Engineer Regiment, Bethlehem

Requirements

  • ABET qualification or equivalent
  • No prior work experience needed
  • Basic literacy, numeracy and ability to read simple instructions
  • Good verbal communication in English
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety rules
  • Familiarity with gardening tools and maintenance equipment
  • Capacity to operate small cleaning and gardening machines
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Organisational skills – able to prioritise routine tasks

Duties

  • Prepare soil, plant trees, flowers and shrubs in designated areas
  • Maintain flower beds – fertilising, irrigating, weeding and pruning
  • Mow lawns, cut edges and ensure a tidy appearance
  • Load and unload gardening materials and equipment as required
  • Irrigate and prune trees; remove excess vegetation and refuse
  • Load waste onto trucks for disposal or incineration
  • Keep the unit area neat and tidy at all times
  • Maintain parking areas, sports grounds, ditches, gutters and fences
  • Clean and chemically treat swimming pools (if applicable)
  • Assist in preparing grounds before and after events
  • Measure and apply pesticides or fertilisers accurately
  • Operate and maintain gardening machinery, reporting any faults
  • Always follow safety precautions while working
