2026 SABS Youth Development Programme: Laboratory Services (PTS Scheme)

The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) invites unemployed graduates to apply for our one-year Internship Programme, starting in April 2026. This programme provides graduates with practical work exposure, professional mentoring, and learning opportunities aligned with national skills priorities.

Programme Overview

  • Position: Graduate Intern (Laboratory Services)
  • Duration: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
  • Stipend: R8,000.00 per month
  • Location: Pretoria, Gauteng

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Must be between the ages of 18 and 35.
  • Must have completed a relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Must have achieved a minimum 80% academic average for the completed qualification.
  • Must have no prior formal work experience related to the field of study.
  • Must be currently unemployed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Participants will gain meaningful workplace experience through structured learning, including:

  • Participating in structured training and development initiatives.
  • Gaining practical experience through rotational assignments and hands-on learning.
  • Assisting with departmental projects, research, and administrative tasks.
  • Applying academic knowledge to real-world laboratory and technical environments.
  • Collaborating with team members and supervisors to meet departmental goals.
  • Submitting progress reports and completing assessments throughout the programme.
