2026 Youth Development Programme: Standards
The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) is a statutory body established to promote and maintain standardization and quality within South Africa. As the national institution for standards, SABS plays a vital role in the country’s industrial and economic development.
We are currently inviting unemployed graduates to apply for our 12-month Youth Development Programme starting in April 2026. This internship is designed to provide practical work exposure, mentorship, and professional learning opportunities aligned with national skills priorities.
Programme Details
- Duration: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
- Stipend: R8,000.00 per month
- Location: Pretoria, Gauteng
- Field: Standards / Graduate Programme
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 35.
- Must have completed a relevant Bachelor’s degree.
- Must have achieved a minimum academic average of 80% for the completed qualification.
- Must have no previous formal work experience related to the field of study.
- Must be currently unemployed.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will participate in a structured learning environment to gain meaningful workplace experience. Duties include:
- Participating in structured training and development initiatives.
- Gaining hands-on experience through departmental rotations.
- Assisting with research, administrative tasks, and specific projects.
- Applying academic knowledge to real-world workplace challenges.
- Collaborating with team members and supervisors to meet organizational goals.
- Submitting regular progress reports and completing required assessments.
