Role Purpose

The Artisan Assistant is responsible for maintaining the overall effectiveness of the equipment and plant on-site. You will play a vital role in ensuring that production processes run smoothly and safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and assist with troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Perform general plant maintenance and attend to mechanical or electrical breakdowns.
  • Assist with on-the-job training and support team members.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and innovative solutions within the plant.
  • Maintain a high level of accountability, punctuality, and reliability.
  • Work with a sense of urgency to achieve production results.

Qualification Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • N2 or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

Experience Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience working in a production factory environment.
  • 2 years of experience as an Artisan Assistant is considered a strong advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Solid knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Basic skills in welding, grinding, and painting (advantageous).
  • Understanding of industry standards, specifically Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and decision-making skills.

Working Conditions

  • The role is based in a factory environment that can be hot and noisy.
  • You will be required to work on and around heavy plant equipment.
  • The position involves shift work, including Saturdays, Sundays, night shifts, and public holidays as per the roster.
