The Eastern Cape Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) is responsible for managing and developing provincial government infrastructure. We are looking for a qualified and dedicated Carpentry Artisan to join our team in East London.

Requirements

• A Matric certificate.
• An appropriate Trade Test Certificate in Carpentry.
• A valid driver’s license.

Key Responsibilities

As an Artisan Carpentry Grade A, your duties will include:

Design and Production

• Creating designs based on client specifications and production capabilities.
• Producing items using materials and equipment according to job standards.
• Ensuring high-quality assurance for all finished products.

Maintenance and Repairs

• Inspecting facilities and equipment for technical faults.
• Repairing equipment and facilities to meet required standards.
• Testing repaired items to ensure they function correctly.
• Performing regular maintenance to prevent equipment failure.

Administration and Leadership

• Updating maintenance registers and keeping accurate job records.
• Compiling and submitting progress reports.
• Providing input for operational planning.
• Supervising and mentoring junior staff members.
• Continuing professional development to stay updated with new technologies and procedures.
