The Eastern Cape Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) is responsible for managing and developing provincial government assets. This includes the construction, property management, and maintenance of essential infrastructure such as hospitals and schools. We are currently seeking a qualified Artisan Electrical (Grade A) to join our team in Mthatha.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• A valid Trade Test Certificate in the electrical field.
• A valid driver’s license.
• A Matric certificate.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

Design and Production

• Create electrical designs based on client specifications and production capabilities.
• Produce items using materials and equipment according to industry standards and job specifications.
• Perform quality assurance checks on all produced items.

Maintenance and Repairs

• Inspect equipment and facilities to identify technical faults.
• Repair equipment and facilities according to set standards.
• Test all repairs against original specifications to ensure they are functioning correctly.
• Ensure all services and equipment are maintained to a high quality.

Administration and Supervision

• Keep an updated register of all maintenance and repair work.
• Compile and submit detailed technical reports.
• Maintain accurate job records and provide input for operational plans.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff members.

Professional Development

• Keep up to date with new technologies and procedures within the electrical trade.
