About the Organization
The Eastern Cape Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) is responsible for managing and maintaining provincial government buildings and assets. The department plays a key role in provincial development by managing construction projects, property maintenance, and infrastructure improvements for facilities such as schools and hospitals.
Job Purpose
As an Artisan Painter, you will be responsible for providing professional painting services, maintaining equipment, and ensuring that all infrastructure projects meet the required quality standards. You will also play a role in supervising staff and managing administrative tasks related to your work.
Requirements
- A Matric certificate (Grade 12).
- An appropriate Trade Test Certificate in Painting.
- A valid driver’s license.
Key Responsibilities
Production and Design:
- Create designs based on client requirements and production capabilities.
- Produce high-quality work using appropriate materials and equipment according to industry standards.
- Perform quality assurance checks on all completed work.
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Inspect facilities and equipment to identify technical faults.
- Repair and test equipment and facilities to ensure they meet safety and performance specifications.
- Ensure all equipment is well-maintained and service standards are met.
Administration and Leadership:
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair work.
- Compile and submit regular reports on work progress.
- Provide input for operational plans.
- Supervise, mentor, and guide junior staff members.
- Stay updated with new technologies and procedures in the painting and construction field.
