Artisan: Plumber

Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is looking for a qualified and dedicated Artisan: Plumber to join our team in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. This is a full-time position focused on maintaining and improving our city’s water infrastructure.

What You Will Do

As an Artisan Plumber, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of water reticulation mains, municipal plumbing, and water meters. Your key duties will include:

  • Coordinating and completing specialized plumbing tasks.
  • Supervising the performance and productivity of support staff.
  • Handling routine administration and reporting to minimize service disruptions.
  • Ensuring all work meets the municipality’s service delivery standards.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • A valid Trade Test Certificate as an artisan.
  • A Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
  • One to two years of relevant work experience.
  • A valid Code C1 driver’s license with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labor.

Working Conditions

  • You must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • You will be required to be on standby for emergencies.
  • Working outside of normal hours and planned overtime will be required.
