Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled Artisan to join our team as a Process Operator and Assembler. In this role, you will be responsible for chemical plant operations, assembling respiratory products, and ensuring all production meets high quality and safety standards.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Essential: Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science, or an NQF Level 4 qualification in a technical field.
- Essential: Trade Test certificate as a Process or Chemical Plant Operator.
- Essential: Technical training in Process Technology, Chemical Engineering, or Industrial Operations.
- Added Advantage: Safety certifications such as SHEQ, NOSA, or SAMTRAC.
Experience
- 4 to 6 years of experience working in a production or process plant environment.
- Proven experience in handling, mixing, weighing, and storing chemicals.
- Familiarity with industrial equipment and modern production technologies.
- A strong track record of following strict safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
1. Chemical Plant Operations
- Prepare equipment and chemicals for the carbon impregnation process.
- Accurately weigh and mix chemicals according to specific work instructions.
- Follow safety procedures for handling acids, bases, and other inorganic chemicals.
- Maintain electronic records of all batch data for quality and traceability.
- Manage stock levels of raw materials and finished goods.
2. Quality Assurance & Safety
- Inspect raw materials to ensure they meet required standards.
- Prepare samples for laboratory testing and keep detailed records of test certificates.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to prevent accidents.
- Properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Identify potential hazards and report them immediately.
3. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform basic maintenance on plant machinery to prevent breakdowns.
- Monitor scrubber units to ensure chemical vapors are contained.
- Report equipment faults or product defects to the Production Foreman immediately.
4. Production & Assembly
- Canister Filters: Process filter media (cutting and gluing) and assemble components using ultrasonic welding and vacuum packaging.
- Cartridge Filters: Assemble and label cartridge components while meeting daily output targets.
- Set up and adjust machines for different product runs to minimize waste and downtime.
