Role Purpose
The successful candidate will support the maintenance team in keeping municipal buildings and infrastructure in excellent condition. This role involves physical work, the use of hand tools, and assisting with various repair tasks to ensure a safe and functional environment for the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with routine and preventative maintenance of municipal buildings.
- Support minor civil works, including repairs to walls, floors, pavements, drainage, doors, and windows.
- Help with basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, tiling, and general building repairs.
- Conduct basic facility inspections and report any defects or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
- Handle, load, and unload tools, equipment, and materials required for projects.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations.
- Maintain the cleanliness of work areas, tools, and equipment.
- Carry out general maintenance duties as directed by the Foreman or Supervisor.
Requirements
- Minimum of Grade 10 and basic literacy.
- A valid Code EB driver’s license.
- The ability to use hand tools and basic maintenance equipment.
- Physical fitness and a willingness to work outdoors.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Basic knowledge of building and civil maintenance (previous experience in this field is an advantage).
- Must meet the competency requirements as outlined in the Local Government: Municipal Staff Regulations.
