Assistant Clothing Manager – Westwood Mall, KwaZulu-Natal

Pick n Pay is a leading retail group in Africa, known for being a family-focused business that puts the customer first. We are currently looking for a motivated and professional Assistant Clothing Manager to join our team at the Westwood Mall branch in KwaZulu-Natal.

Role Overview

As an Assistant Clothing Manager, you will support the Store Manager in daily operations, staff management, and ensuring our customers receive the best possible service. This is a full-time position that requires a hands-on approach and the ability to lead a team effectively.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent (NQF Level 4).
  • At least 1 year of experience in a managerial position, or 6 months of experience as a reliever.
  • Proficiency in computer tools including MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and MS Teams or Zoom.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and after-hours stock takes.
  • Ability to perform physical, hands-on tasks within the store.
  • Willingness to move between store locations if required.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment assessment.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Excellence

  • Maintain high customer service standards throughout the store.
  • Handle customer requests and provide expert advice on products and services.
  • Ensure visual merchandising standards are met and all promotions are executed correctly.

People Management

  • Assist the Store Manager with staff scheduling and daily team management.
  • Help with recruitment, training, and development of store employees.
  • Support performance management and identify talent for future growth.
  • Address employee concerns or shortcomings professionally.

Daily Operations and Risk Management

  • Manage store opening and locking procedures according to security protocols.
  • Handle administration, including invoicing, pricing, expense control, and banking reconciliations.
  • Supervise stock deliveries, ensuring merchandise is captured and displayed correctly.
  • Monitor stock quality, control shrinkage (loss prevention), and ensure health and safety (OHS) standards are followed.

Sales and Promotions

  • Help drive sales to achieve store budgets and turnover targets.
  • Coordinate and implement in-store promotions, markdowns, and price changes.
