The Role
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Director for Budget Reform. In this role, you will be responsible for managing budget data, maintaining our public data portal, and ensuring that financial information is accessible and useful for all stakeholders.
Requirements
- Education: A Grade 12 certificate and a National Diploma (NQF 6) in Information Technology or Informatics. A Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) is an added advantage.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in Information Technology, programming, software development, data mining, or data analysis.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Management and Preparation
- Collect, clean, and verify raw budget datasets to ensure accuracy.
- Prepare and upload data to the Vulekamali portal following international open data standards.
- Create and maintain data dictionaries and documentation for audit purposes.
- Monitor data pipelines to ensure budget information is integrated smoothly.
2. Portal Development and Maintenance
- Maintain an active online portal for budget and related financial data.
- Develop data visualizations, including tables and graphs, to help users understand budget trends.
- Ensure the portal links correctly to other relevant stakeholder sites.
- Perform daily maintenance to keep the portal running efficiently.
3. Technical Support and Troubleshooting
- Act as the first point of contact for technical issues raised by users and stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve portal errors quickly to minimize downtime.
4. Stakeholder Engagement
- Work with government departments and civil society groups to understand their data needs.
- Lead workshops and training sessions on how to use the Vulekamali data portal.
- Collect user feedback to help improve the portal and inform future policy reforms.
