About the OHSC
The Office of Health Standards Compliance (OHSC) is an independent body created by the National Health Amendment Act of 2013. Our role is to ensure that both public and private health facilities across South Africa meet the required health standards.
Minimum Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7) in Law or a related legal field.
- At least three years of post-graduate experience, including two years in a legal, compliance, or regulatory environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in computer software and report writing.
- A valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel for work.
Preferred Qualifications
The following will be considered an advantage:
- Post-graduate qualifications in Compliance, Risk Management, or Regulatory Certification.
- Experience working in the public sector, healthcare, or social services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Framework Support: Help implement the OHSC Certification and Enforcement framework and coordinate with different departments to certify health establishments.
- Compliance Management: Manage the process of ensuring health facilities follow prescribed norms and standards.
- Report Review: Review inspection reports to make decisions regarding certification or enforcement actions.
- Litigation & Hearings: Manage legal challenges related to certification decisions and coordinate formal hearings when necessary.
- Strategy & Planning: Contribute to policy development, annual performance plans, divisional budgets, and operating plans.
- Stakeholder Relations: Act as a point of contact for internal and external partners regarding divisional matters.
- Performance & Governance: Meet divisional targets, manage staff performance, and follow all OHSC governance and management systems.
