Job Overview

The DBE is looking for an Assistant Director to join the Continuing Professional Teacher Development division. This role focuses on supporting teachers through training programs, recognition awards, and well-being initiatives.

Requirements

  • A three-year qualification (NQF level 6) in Labour Relations or a relevant field.
  • At least three years of experience at a supervisory level within the education sector.
  • Two years of experience designing quality teacher development programs.
  • Proven experience in formal writing and document management.
  • Knowledge of Teacher Appreciation programs and Teacher Well-Being initiatives is an advantage.
  • A solid understanding of the National Education Policy Act (NEPA) and teacher development frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Teacher Appreciation and Support Programs (TASP) and conduct annual reviews to improve performance.
  • Develop management plans and budgets for teacher support initiatives.
  • Design and implement advocacy strategies to promote teacher development.
  • Coordinate the National Teaching Awards (NTA) program, including planning and risk management.
  • Maintain all project documentation and promote creative management solutions.
  • Communicate with stakeholders, including Provincial Education Departments, teacher unions, and school governing bodies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure teacher training is well-coordinated across the organization.
