About the Position
The Gauteng Department of Health is looking for a skilled professional to join our team as an Assistant Director for Health Information Systems. Our goal is to provide high-quality, accessible healthcare to the public. In this role, you will help manage the data systems that allow us to monitor health services and improve patient care across the province.
Key Responsibilities
- System Maintenance: Oversee the implementation and upkeep of Health Information Systems (such as DHIS and Tier.net) at facility and district levels.
- Data Quality: Conduct regular audits to ensure all health data is accurate and valid using WebDHIS.
- Staff Training: Provide training and support to data capturers and facility managers on how to use HIS software and follow department policies.
- Policy Implementation: Ensure that all health information management follows the District Health Management Information System (DHMIS) policy.
- Reporting: Create detailed reports and data tables for program managers to help track disease trends and health outcomes, specifically for HIV, TB, and Maternal Health.
Job Requirements
- Education: A National Diploma or Degree (NQF level 6 or 7) in Information Technology, Data Management, Statistics, or Health Sciences.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in Health Information Management.
- Technical Skills: Proven experience working with DHIS, Tier.net, and HPRS.
- Certification: A formal certification in DHIS (District Health Information System) is highly preferred.
