Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Director for Households Livelihoods within our Greening and Livelihoods Implementation Support unit. This role focuses on supporting community development and environmental sustainability through forestry and greening initiatives.
Requirements
- A National Diploma (NQF6) in Forestry, Natural Sciences, or a related field recognized by SAQA.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in forestry or a related field.
- A valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel as required.
- Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo a practical technical assessment and an ethics (integrity) assessment.
Key Knowledge and Skills
- Legislative Knowledge: Familiarity with the National Forests Act, the National Veld and Forest Fire Act, NEMA, and NEMBA.
- Policy Understanding: Knowledge of government pro-poor policies, SMME development, and intergovernmental relations.
- Administration: Understanding of public service procedures, including the Public Service Act, PFMA, and Treasury Regulations.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage projects, programmes, and data collection.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team under pressure.
