About the Position
The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to join our team as an Assistant Director for Human Resource Management and Development. This role is vital in supporting our mission to provide strategic leadership and effective oversight within the PSET system.
Minimum Requirements
- A Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or NCV Level 4 Certificate.
- A recognized Diploma in Human Resource Management, Public Management, or a related field (NQF Level 6).
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience specifically within the Human Resource Management field.
- A valid Driver’s Licence.
- Advanced computer literacy.
Key Knowledge and Skills
- System Knowledge: Sound experience and understanding of the PERSAL system.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of the laws governing the TVET sector (including the CET Act) and Public Service regulations such as the Public Service Act, Labour Relations Act, and Basic Conditions of Employment Act.
- HR Expertise: Strong knowledge of HR administration, development processes, and employment equity standards.
- Leadership: Proven ability in people management, project management, and financial oversight.
- Communication: Excellent report writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to plan, organize, and conduct research to solve complex problems.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing Human Resource operations, ensuring compliance with all legal prescripts, and managing staff development initiatives. You will provide administrative leadership and ensure that HR services effectively support the department’s goals.
