Role Overview
The Department of Home Affairs is seeking a qualified professional to join the Immigration Services division as an Assistant Director. This role is responsible for overseeing inspectorate functions, ensuring compliance with South African immigration laws, and managing departmental projects effectively.
Requirements
- Education: A recognized qualification (NQF Level 6) in Law, Public Management, Public Administration, Policing, Criminology, Forensics, Paralegal, or Criminal Justice.
- Experience: At least 3 years of supervisory experience within a law enforcement, legal, or security environment.
- Licenses: A valid Code C1 driver’s license and a valid Public Driver Permit (PDP).
- Travel: Willingness to travel extensively, including outside South African borders, and work extended hours when necessary.
Key Knowledge and Skills
- Deep understanding of the Immigration Act, Refugees Act, Criminal Procedure Act, and related international treaties.
- Knowledge of public service legislative frameworks and government structures.
- Proficiency in project management, project optimization, and using digital online systems.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write professional reports and deliver presentations.
- Strong investigative, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
