Assistant Director: Information Management (System Manager: Billing & Materials)

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is responsible for providing public healthcare services to the people of the Western Cape province. We are looking for a qualified professional to join our team as an Assistant Director for Information Management, focusing on Billing and Materials systems.

Educational Requirements

  • An appropriate 3-year National Diploma or Degree in Information Technology (IT) or Finance.

Professional Experience

Candidates should have experience in the following areas:

  • Patient administration and billing procedures.
  • Advanced use of patient admin and billing systems (experience with the AR Billing system is highly preferred).
  • Training and providing technical support to system users.
  • Materials management and asset management.
  • Knowledge of Hospital Fees and patient administration policies.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage a team effectively.
  • Advanced computer literacy, especially with MS Office.
  • Accurate data capturing and quality control skills.
  • Knowledge of systems such as Clinicom, Materials Management, and Accounts Receivable.
  • Understanding of system maintenance, enhancement process flows, and business process re-engineering.

Additional Job Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel to various health institutions within the Western Cape.
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
