We are looking for a professional and experienced individual to join our team as an Assistant Director for Information Security.
Job Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for protecting the department’s digital assets, managing cybersecurity risks, and ensuring that all information systems comply with relevant safety standards and regulations.
Requirements
- Education: Matric plus a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in Information Security, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or junior management role.
- Certifications: Professional IT security certifications (such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, or CCNP) will be an added advantage.
- License: A valid driver’s license is required.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, network security, and cloud data protection.
- Knowledge of information security frameworks and risk management tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to explain technical security concepts to a non-technical audience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy & Governance: Develop and execute the department’s information security strategy. Establish and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Risk Management: Identify and prioritize security risks and vulnerabilities. Implement effective measures to protect departmental data.
- Reporting: Attend governance committees to present ICT security reports and updates.
- Awareness: Lead security awareness programs to promote a culture of safety and data protection within the department.
- Operations: Oversee daily security operations, including detecting, responding to, and recovering from security incidents.
- Compliance: Ensure the department meets all legal and regulatory requirements regarding information security.
- Vendor Oversight: Assess and manage security risks related to third-party partners and vendors.
- Maintenance: Manage patch updates and ensure the IT environment remains secure and up to date.
