Overview

The Western Cape Mobility Department is dedicated to delivering high-quality infrastructure and services to create safe, connected, and empowered communities. We are looking for a qualified professional to join our team and help lead the development of our Integrated Transport Hub (ITH).

The Role

As the Assistant Director for Land Transport Systems, you will be responsible for establishing the Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) as a central point for information exchange. Your main focus will be to optimize how we manage data and ensure that all information within the system is accurate and reliable. This is a fast-paced role that requires the ability to meet tight deadlines and work flexible hours when necessary.

Minimum Requirements

  • A 3-year National Diploma or B-Degree in Information Systems, Business Analysis, Management, or Project Management.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience at a supervisory level.
  • A valid Code B (or higher) driving license. (Provisions are available for individuals with disabilities that may restrict driving).

Key Responsibilities

  • Data & Technology Management: Manage the technology and data within the Integrated Transport Hub (ITH).
  • System Integration: Oversee the integration of various transport data systems to ensure smooth information flow.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with partners and stakeholders to collaborate on transport system goals.
  • Risk & Compliance: Ensure all data processes meet legal standards and manage potential risks.
  • Managerial Oversight: Lead team functions and manage projects related to land transport and ICT systems.

Knowledge and Skills

Professional Knowledge:

  • Understanding of transport legislation, regulatory frameworks, and policies.
  • Familiarity with Land Transport systems and ICT infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of project management and operational best practices.
  • Expertise in data management and information services.

Core Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and computer literacy.
  • High level of organization, planning, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to handle conflict and manage financial or audit requirements.
