Overview

The Western Cape Provincial Treasury is responsible for managing the provincial budget and overseeing its implementation. We work closely with various districts to support the Western Cape Government’s priorities of creating a safe and prosperous province.

Minimum Requirements

  • A 3-year Degree or Advanced Diploma (or higher) in Financial Management, Accounting, or Commerce.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in asset and inventory management.
  • A valid Code B (or higher) driving license. (Note: Applicants with disabilities that prevent driving may apply if they have reliable alternative transport).

Key Responsibilities

  • Policy and Governance: Develop policies and oversee compliance and governance regarding moveable assets.
  • Monitoring and Support: Provide guidance and support to various provincial departments and public entities.
  • Financial Reporting: Manage financial reporting and disclosures related to assets.
  • Capacity Building: Focus on training, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the team and the province.

Knowledge and Competencies

We are looking for a candidate with a strong understanding of:

  • Public sector asset management laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Accounting standards, including GRAP (Generally Recognised Accounting Practice) and modified cash basis reporting.
  • Asset classification, recognition, and financial disclosure.
  • Policy analysis, research methodologies, and report writing.
  • Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Project Management.
