The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is responsible for early childhood development and primary and secondary education in the Western Cape. Our mission is to improve language and mathematics skills, increase matric pass rates, and ensure that children in every community have access to high-quality education.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this position, you must have:

  • A 3-year National Diploma or Degree in Human Resource Development (recognized by SAQA).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a Human Resource Development environment at a supervisory level.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Required Knowledge

The successful candidate should be familiar with the following:

  • Key legislation including the Skills Development Act, Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), and the Public Service Act.
  • Labor relations and employment acts, such as the LRA, BCEA, and the Employment of Educators Act.
  • South African Schools Act and SAQA regulations.
  • Processes and systems related to people empowerment and staff development.
  • Government initiatives and compliance standards for public servants.
