Role Overview

The Mpumalanga Department of Economic Development and Tourism is seeking a professional and experienced individual to join the team as an Assistant Director for Trade and Investment Promotion. This role focuses on driving economic growth through trade-export initiatives and small business development within the province.

Minimum Requirements

  • A recognized NQF level 6 tertiary qualification in Economics, Business Management, or Business Administration.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of work experience in MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) development, trade-export, or investment promotion.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Required Knowledge and Skills

The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of the following areas:

  • International trade legal frameworks and promotion strategies.
  • The Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
  • The South African economy and the ability to analyze economic data.
  • Provincial economic sectors and the Batho Pele principles of service delivery.
  • MSME development and export training.

  • Leadership & Management: Strong project management, financial management, and people management skills.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write detailed reports and deliver professional presentations.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to solve complex problems and innovate service delivery.
