Role Overview
The Northern Cape Provincial Treasury is looking for a professional to help manage provincial resources effectively. Your goal will be to ensure that financial budgets align with the Provincial Growth and Development Strategy, promoting transparency and efficient service delivery for the community.
Requirements
- Education: An NQF Level 6 qualification in Accounting, Auditing, Economics, or Public Administration/Management.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in revenue management or a public finance environment.
- License: A valid driver’s license is required.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Strategy and Monitoring
- Support the implementation of strategies to improve provincial revenue.
- Review and provide input on revenue proposals from various departments.
- Participate in planning for medium-term revenue goals and the division of funds.
Revenue Management and Support
- Help departments use the best tools and techniques to collect revenue owed to the province.
- Prepare performance reports for stakeholders and conduct site visits at revenue-collecting institutions.
- Analyze monthly performance to identify and manage financial risks.
Policy Development
- Help create debt management policies and guidelines for best practices.
- Ensure all departmental policies comply with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze budget proposals and provide recommendations based on financial data.
- Contribute information and analysis for the annual budget speech.
- Assist in preparing the “Estimates of Provincial Revenue and Expenditure” reports.
Growth and Research
- Research new potential sources of revenue for the province.
- Assess if new revenue ideas are practical and review existing service tariffs.
