Job Purpose

The Assistant Education Officer is responsible for creating and delivering educational programs focused on waste management and waste minimization. You will work at a grassroots level with various groups, including local communities, schools, the transport industry, and business sectors. The goal is to share vital information and encourage community involvement to support the city’s sustainable development goals and waste management plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and facilitate integrated waste management educational programs.
  • Engage with community-based structures and schools to promote environmental awareness.
  • Collaborate with the business and transport sectors to encourage sustainable waste practices.
  • Help achieve the eThekwini vision by encouraging public participation in waste reduction.

Requirements

  • Education: Grade 12 (Matric/NQF Level 4) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Certification: A certificate in Environmental Science, Public Relations, Communication, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Licensing: A valid motor vehicle driving license is essential.
