Assistant Housekeeping Manager

Key Responsibilities

As the Assistant Housekeeping Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the housekeeping department. Your main duties will include:

  • Supervising daily operations to ensure all service standards are strictly followed.
  • Maintaining the highest levels of cleanliness in guest rooms, public areas, and staff sections.
  • Overseeing the Laundry, Valet, and Uniform Room operations.
  • Managing labor costs through effective staff scheduling and productivity monitoring.
  • Working with the Chief Engineer to manage preventative maintenance programs.
  • Addressing guest concerns quickly and professionally.
  • Managing the departmental budget, processing invoices, and tracking operational costs.
  • Monitoring stock levels and ordering supplies to prevent shortages.
  • Training and coaching team members to ensure consistent, high-quality service.
  • Assisting the Executive Housekeeper with renovation projects and interior design maintenance.
  • Participating in the Duty Manager program and attending regular departmental meetings.

Requirements and Qualifications

We are looking for a professional leader with the following qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification (A Hospitality Management qualification is highly recommended).
  • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership or training role within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong proficiency in English (verbal and written).
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and teach a diverse team.
  • Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of Butler training is an advantage.
