Assistant Manager – Company Secretary

Apex Group is seeking a dedicated Assistant Manager to join our team in Johannesburg. In this role, you will support our Jersey-based Client Directors with the administration and management of trust structures and corporate entities, ensuring full compliance with international regulations and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of trusts and corporate entities while providing guidance to your team. Main duties include:

  • Developing a deep understanding of client portfolios and ensuring all regulatory and statutory requirements are met.
  • Planning and coordinating the delivery of client services within strict deadlines.
  • Managing income and capital distributions to beneficiaries and ensuring all documentation is accurate.
  • Maintaining precise trust summaries and handling the termination or exit process for corporate entities.
  • Supervising a team of administrators, reviewing their work, and supporting their professional development.
  • Acting as a key contact for client directors, lawyers, auditors, and investment managers.
  • Providing accurate monthly reports to management regarding team performance and key information.
  • Identifying and reporting risks or legal issues promptly to senior management.
  • Ensuring all team actions comply with internal policies and legal regulations.

Skills and Experience

We are looking for a professional with a strong legal background and management experience. Requirements include:

  • Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree (LLB or BCom LLB) and status as an Admitted Attorney.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in trust administration and working with corporate entities.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of legal, accounting, taxation, and commercial practices within the industry.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage, motivate, and influence a team.
  • Communication: Excellent organizational skills and fluency in English for all professional correspondence.
  • Detail Oriented: High level of accuracy and the ability to learn complex regulatory requirements across different jurisdictions.
