Assistant Production Manager

A leading pet food manufacturer specializing in companion animal nutrition is looking for an Assistant Production Manager. In this role, you will help oversee plant operations to ensure the team meets production targets, maintains high quality, and follows all safety regulations. You will support the Production Manager in leading the staff and maintaining high standards throughout the facility.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • A relevant university degree or tertiary qualification.
  • At least 3 years of technical or operational experience in a production environment.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage teams in a fast-paced setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and OHSACT safety and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively coordinate with your team.

Key Responsibilities

Your main duties will include:

  • Monitoring daily production schedules to ensure all targets are met on time.
  • Making sure all production processes align with quality standards and product specifications.
  • Guiding and advising senior team leaders to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Enforcing safe work practices and ensuring the plant remains compliant with health and safety laws.
  • Supervising Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Mentoring and training production staff to help them grow and perform better.
  • Managing team discipline and handling any necessary disciplinary actions.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to food safety protocols (HACCP).
  • Training new operators on how to use equipment and follow company procedures.
  • Providing general support to the Production and Operations Managers.
