Assistant Restaurant Manager – Stellenbosch

Nando’s is a global family famous for our legendary PERi-PERi chicken. Our story began with Portuguese explorers and the discovery of the African Bird’s Eye Chilli. Today, we are looking for a passionate and energetic Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our team in Stellenbosch.

Role Overview

This is a full-time position in the hospitality sector. We are looking for a leader who has “fire in their belly and purpose in their heart.” You will support the Restaurant Manager in running a successful business while creating a positive environment for both staff and customers.

Job Details

  • Location: Stellenbosch, Western Cape
  • Experience: 2 – 3 years in restaurant management
  • Qualification: Matric (Grade 12)
  • Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Office

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience in restaurant operations and managing teams.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • A proactive attitude toward problem-solving.
  • Applicants with more than 3 years of experience are preferred.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Management

  • Manage daily financial tasks and follow company procedures.
  • Control costs by managing stock, reducing waste, and preventing theft.
  • Monitor daily targets, including sales, customer counts, and average spend.
  • Help take corrective actions to improve the restaurant’s profit margins.

2. Operational Management

  • Oversee daily stock control and inventory.
  • Ensure the restaurant meets high standards for health, safety, and hygiene.
  • Report maintenance issues and ensure repairs are handled quickly.
  • Prepare for internal and external audits to ensure the branch stays compliant.

3. People Management

  • Create weekly staff rosters to ensure the restaurant is always well-staffed.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training new team members.
  • Manage staff attendance and performance feedback.
  • Ensure all staff members follow the disciplinary code and complete their training modules.

4. Marketing and Customer Service

  • Help run national and local marketing campaigns to grow the business.
  • Handle customer complaints professionally and quickly.
  • Use “Mystery Shopper” feedback to improve service quality.
  • Step in as the Acting Restaurant Manager when the manager is away.
