Role Overview

We are looking for a passionate and confident Assistant Store Manager to join our Clicks Baby team at Mall of Africa. In this role, you will support the Store Manager in running the store efficiently. Your main goal will be to drive sales, lead your team, and ensure every customer has a great experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales and Growth: Help reach financial goals by encouraging sales, managing promotions, and providing superior customer service.
  • Store Operations: Oversee daily tasks including stock management, reducing stock loss, and keeping the store clean and organized.
  • Visual Standards: Ensure the store looks professional and inviting by following brand guidelines for displays and merchandising.
  • Team Leadership: Support and motivate staff to reach their targets. Manage the team effectively when the Store Manager is away.
  • Staff Scheduling: Assist with daily work schedules to ensure the store is always properly staffed.
  • Customer Loyalty: Drive customer service initiatives and encourage customers to join the ClubCard program.
  • Administration: Handle office tasks accurately, including staff attendance records and HR paperwork.

Requirements

  • Education: Grade 12 (with at least 50% in both Mathematics and English).
  • Qualification: A relevant degree or diploma in Retail or Business Management is required for external applicants.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience as an assistant manager in a retail or FMCG environment.
  • Financial Skills: Experience managing budgets, profit and loss statements, and financial ratios.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of retail finance and stock control.
  • Knowledge of merchandising and promotional standards.
  • Familiarity with labor laws and managing people.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literacy and strong organizational skills.
  • A target-driven mindset with a focus on customer satisfaction.
