Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated Assistant Store Manager to join our Diepkloof team. In this role, you will support the Store Manager in driving sales, managing daily operations, and leading a team to provide exceptional customer service. Your goal is to help the store meet its targets while maintaining a competitive edge in the retail market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Sales: Maximize financial performance by executing promotional activities and encouraging cross-selling and up-selling.
  • Operations Management: Oversee stock management, minimize shrinkage, and manage store expenses and administration.
  • Visual Standards: Maintain high standards of in-store presentation and visual merchandising in line with the brand image.
  • Team Leadership: Motivate and guide staff to achieve performance goals and manage the team effectively in the Store Manager’s absence.
  • Staff Scheduling: Assist with daily work schedules to ensure the store is properly staffed at all times.
  • Customer Excellence: Deliver a great shopping experience to build customer loyalty and reach ClubCard targets.
  • Administration: Complete HR-related tasks, including time and attendance records, accurately and on time.

Requirements

  • Education: Grade 12 (with at least 50% in Mathematics and English). A Degree or Diploma in Retail or Business Management is highly preferred.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a retail or FMCG assistant management role, or completion of the Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme.
  • Financial Skills: Experience working with budgets, profit and loss statements, and financial ratios.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Solid understanding of retail merchandising and promotion principles.
  • Knowledge of stock control, risk management, and compliance procedures.
  • Familiarity with labour legislation and people management.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict targets.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy and basic numeracy.
