Role Introduction

Are you passionate about retail and providing excellent service? Do you have the confidence to drive sales and build customer loyalty? We are looking for an Assistant Store Manager to join our Rivonia team. You will report directly to the Store Manager and play a key role in ensuring our brand remains a customer favorite.

Job Purpose

Your goal is to support the Store Manager in running an efficient store. You will focus on driving sales, meeting profit targets, and ensuring compliance while delivering a great shopping experience for every customer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Financial Performance: Increase sales by managing promotional activities, encouraging cross-selling, and providing superior customer service.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee daily operations, including stock management, expense control, administrative tasks, and store maintenance.
  • Visual Merchandising: Ensure the store looks professional and inviting by following brand standards and promotional layouts.
  • Team Leadership: Motivate staff to reach their goals. You will manage the team and handle daily work schedules in line with company policy when the Store Manager is away.
  • Customer Loyalty: Drive customer service initiatives and encourage participation in our ClubCard program.
  • Administration: Keep accurate records, including employee time and attendance, and submit necessary documents to HR.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Grade 12 (with at least 50% in both Mathematics and English).
  • Qualification: A relevant Retail or Business Management qualification is required (external applicants) or a degree in a similar field (preferred).
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience as an Assistant Store Manager in a retail or FMCG environment, or successful completion of the Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme.
  • Financial Knowledge: Experience managing budgets, profit and loss statements, and financial ratios.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of retail merchandising and promotions.
  • Knowledge of stock control, cost management, and risk compliance.
  • Familiarity with South African labor legislation and staff management.
  • Proficiency in computer use and basic numeracy.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet targets.
