Position Overview

We are looking for a passionate and confident Assistant Store Manager to join our team at Westgate Mall. In this role, you will support the Store Manager in running an efficient store, driving sales growth, and building customer loyalty. Your goal is to help the brand maintain its competitive advantage by meeting sales, profit, and compliance targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Financial Performance: Maximize sales by leading promotional activities, cross-selling, and providing superior customer service.
  • Operational Excellence: Manage day-to-day operations, including stock management, expense control, administration, and maintaining high standards of store cleanliness.
  • Visual Merchandising: Ensure the store follows brand standards for presentation and promotional displays.
  • Team Leadership: Support and motivate staff to reach their performance goals. Lead the team effectively when the Store Manager is away.
  • Staff Scheduling: Help manage daily work schedules according to company policy to ensure all departments are properly staffed.
  • Customer Experience: Implement service initiatives that drive customer loyalty and help achieve ClubCard targets.
  • Administration: Handle weekly time, attendance, and HR records accurately and on time.

Requirements

  • Education: Grade 12 (minimum 50% in both Mathematics and English).
  • Qualification: A relevant Retail or Business Management qualification is required for external applicants.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in an assistant store management role within a retail or FMCG environment, or successful completion of the Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme.
  • Financial Knowledge: Experience managing budgets, profit and loss statements, and financial ratios.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of retail merchandising and promotion principles.
  • Knowledge of stock control, risk management, and compliance procedures.
  • Solid understanding of labor legislation and people management.
  • Excellent numeracy and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and computer literacy.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and lead a team under pressure.
  • A target-driven mindset with a focus on delivering results.
