The Mr Price Group is a high-growth fashion and lifestyle retailer in South Africa. We provide affordable apparel, homeware, and sportswear to our customers, primarily through cash sales. We are looking for a motivated individual to join our cellular division and help drive our success at the Midlands Mall branch.
The Role
As the Assistant Store Manager, your primary goal is to support the Store Manager in the daily operations of the Mr Price Cellular store. You will help ensure that store targets are reached, operations run smoothly, and every customer receives exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
Stock Management
- Oversee the accurate receiving, unpacking, and display of stock on the sales floor.
- Monitor stock levels and conduct regular counts to prevent stock loss.
- Maintain a clean and organized stockroom.
- Handle administrative tasks related to stock, including repairs, returns, and out-of-box failures.
Sales and Profitability
- Review sales reports to help develop plans that increase performance and manage expenses.
- Stay updated on product performance and provide feedback to the support center.
- Identify opportunities to grow the brand, including monitoring competitor activity and managing in-store marketing.
- Drive performance in key areas such as credit, insurance, and mobile sales.
Risk Management and Compliance
- Assist with internal audits and administrative checks to ensure the store follows all company policies.
- Enforce health, safety, and security standards to protect staff and assets.
Customer Experience
- Ensure the store is visually appealing and meets housekeeping standards.
- Execute price changes, markdowns, and promotions accurately.
- Manage customer feedback and ensure high service standards are always maintained.
Team Leadership
- Lead and motivate the team to achieve daily goals and long-term targets.
- Identify training needs and help develop staff through coaching and mentorship.
- Assist with recruitment and performance management in line with company values.
Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent (NQF level 4).
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a retail environment. Previous management experience is a strong advantage.
- Skills: Strong understanding of sales and customer service.
- Financial Literacy: Basic budgeting skills.
- Tech Savvy: Proficient in using computers and basic software.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with cellular products, mobile accounts, and insurance is preferred.
